About The Film
The Mobile Planet Documentary
The extent to which mobile has affected our lives – no matter where we live, and what our social and economic background – is incredible. Mobile has spread through all aspects of life. And you need to see it to believe it.
Which is why the GSM Association partnered with TelecomTV to record this phenomenal achievement with a feature-length documentary and photographic book. The Mobile Planet documentary marks the twentieth anniversary of the signing of the MoU by looking at the many diverse and varied uses of mobiles around the world. The project covered twenty countries, to capture on film the positive impact of mobile communications.
The filmmakers started their journey in Russia in June last year, at the Board Meeting of the GSM Association. From there, they travelled to Africa, Asia, North and South America, before returning to Europe. Over 150 people were interviewed and more than 100 hours of footage was captured during a production shoot that totalled 85 days.
